About the program
When you join our Graduate Support Program for Mental Health nurses , you become part of a supportive, people focused environment. Throughout your 12-month journey, commencing in February, you will strengthen your clinical skills, develop confidence and establish a strong sense of professional identity.
The program consists of rotations across:
- Acute Adult Psychiatry
- Acute Aged Psychiatry
You’ll also have opportunities to observe and participate in specialised services such as:
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
- Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
- Nurse led groups
Support throughout your program
You won’t be navigating this year alone. You will be supported through comprehensive, multi-tiered support structure, giving you access to:
- Nurse Managers and Associate Nurse Managers
- Mental Health Clinical Nurse Educator
- Mentors
- Mental Health clinical team
- Graduate Support Program team
The education team and clinical teams are dedicated to supporting you throughout your journey by providing guidance, answering questions, and helping you feel connected to the broader Epworth community. You will be supported to expand your knowledge, develop advanced, mental health-specific clinical skills, and thrive in an environment that values your contribution.
Your graduate program includes an extensive orientation and supernumerary period as well as a structured learning program that includes graduate development days. The overall program provides opportunities to consolidate knowledge, share experiences, and build connections with fellow graduates. As part of the program, you will also complete the Transition to Specialty Practice Program, Mental Health, that supports your development in the specialty.

Epworth location
- Epworth Camberwell | Epworth Clinic
Located in Camberwell and close to public transport, we provide comprehensive private mental health care for adults, including general psychiatry and specialised aged psychiatry. Epworth Clinic offers inpatient and outpatient services, including psychiatric consulting, day programs, therapy groups, and specialised treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and Esketamine therapy. Our clinical approach focuses on individualised treatment and collaborative, multidisciplinary decision‑making to achieve outstanding patient outcomes.
Before starting the program, you will need to:
- Be on track to successfully complete your Bachelor or Master of Nursing
- Be expecting to obtain AHPRA registration before the program start date
- Hold one of the following:
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
- New Zealand Citizenship
- A valid visa with unrestricted work rights for part-time hours
