A/Prof Michael Wong is the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Western Health. He's received national and international awards for his novel basic clinical PhD research on lethal cardiac arrhythmias & sudden cardiac death.

Michael has expertise in cardiac device implantation (leadless pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy) and treatment of complex atrial & ventricular arrhythmias using contemporary catheter ablation techniques.

He maintains an active interest in research, receiving multiple accolades including the Ralph Reader prize from the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand/World Congress of Cardiology Scientific Sessions, and Young Investigator Awards from the North American Heart Rhythm Society and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology/Renal Society of Australasia. He's also received multiple awards from the National Heart Foundation of Australia, including the Keith Goldsbury Award Postgraduate Scholarship, Vanguard Research Grant, Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and the Heart Foundation Paul Korner Innovation Award (for the most successful innovative postdoctoral fellowship application in 2017).
