Getting the right kind of nutrition is important at the best of times. But on match days, it’s vital to fuel yourself with the right nutrients to be at your best.
With finals now underway in the AFL Barwon female football competition, Belmont Lions senior women’s players recently joined Epworth Geelong Chef Dan Spence in the kitchen to cook up a storm.
Pictured (from left) Madi Wiffen, Alex Layton, Dan, Sara-Lou Gregoire and Alex Rowe combined their talents to create a stunning meatball dish to form the basis of a social media campaign to educate others on how to cook nutritious match-day meals.
This collaboration is part of Epworth HealthCare’s official partnership of AFL Barwon, which earlier this year was extended for another three years. Epworth has been supporting female football as a major partner in the Barwon region since the inception of the senior female football competition in 2017.
The partnership with AFL Barwon also continues our support of grassroots netball in the Bellarine and Geelong senior netball competitions.
AFL Barwon Regional General Manager, Edward Wilson said:
“I thank Epworth for its ongoing collaboration and enthusiasm, to sustainably support the future of football for all, within the Barwon region.”
Epworth Geelong Chef Dan Spence said:
“I had a blast educating the players about nutritional match-day meals. Stepping out of the hospital kitchen to create these videos was so much fun.
“Usually my focus is on ensuring our patients get the best culinary experience to aid their recovery, so being able to extend this to the wider community is rewarding.”
