Overview
The Epworth Geelong Acute Concussion Clinic is a physiotherapist-led clinic with the ability to refer onto specialist medical support as required.
The clinic provides assessment, management and advice in the first two – four weeks post-concussion, to optimise recovery and return to work and play.
Available by appointment Monday - Friday in the Outpatient area, lower ground reception at Epworth Geelong.
The clinic will act as an additional service to feed into the Epworth Geelong Outpatients Concussion Clinic – led by a Specialist Rehabilitation Physician.
With an excellent relationship with Radiology Victoria, the clinic has onsite access to radiological diagnostic services including x-ray, ultrasound, CT scanning, nuclear medicine and MRI imaging (if indicated).
We understand concussion injuries can be difficult to manage. The symptoms can vary and are often subtle yet broad. The Acute Concussion Clinic aims to help by offering:
- Assessment of the patient’s current situation
- Advice around return to play and work
- Baseline assessments pre-sporting injuries, as recommended by the AFL
- Recommend exercises to aid recovery
- Referral for specialist medical guidance, if required.
Clinic fees:
Initial assessment in the clinic is $210. Follow-up appointments of 60 minutes are $210 and 30 minutes $105. Based on the participants extras cover, these fees may be eligible for rebate through their private health insurance.
Opening hours:
Tuesdays 8.30am – 12pm
