Epworth at Home patients are supported daily by a dedicated team of Epworth doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals through our hospital in the home service.
What conditions do we treat?
Epworth at Home - Hospital in the home can manage patients who need ongoing acute care for serious conditions, including:
- Anticoagulation support:
- New atrial fibrillation diagnosis
- Perioperative management for patients on Warfarin
- Complicated DVT or pulmonary embolism
- Infusions:
- Blood transfusions and iron infusions for palliative care
- Dehydration due to:
- Sepsis
- Chemotherapy complications
- Pregnancy
- Gastroenteritis
- Hospital-acquired infections:
- Infected prostheses
- Pneumonia
- Surgical wound infections
- Inflammatory disorders:
- MS, ulcerative colitis, and others requiring IV steroids
- Wound care:
- Negative pressure (VAC) therapy
- Other serious conditions:
- Traumatic or neoplastic conditions
- Serious infections such as osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, endocarditis, spinal abscesses
- Viral or fungal infections needing antiviral or antifungal treatment
Emergency Department referrals
Through Epworth Richmond Emergency Department, we also manage patients requiring acute admission for:
- Cellulitis
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Nursing home-acquired infections
- Pneumonia
- Severe sinusitis
- Oncology symptom support
- Tonsillitis
- Urinary sepsis
