Associate Professor Arun Dhir wears many hats—an Upper GI Surgeon, mind-body gut researcher, Yoga & Meditation teacher, and an Australian Army Officer. He believes in creating an impact beyond the operating room. He is also the author of four books and over twenty scientific publications.
As the Deputy Chair of the Vic State Committee at RACS, Dr Arun is passionate about creating a sustainable future in healthcare, advancing surgeon wellbeing, and fostering conscious leadership.
His research focuses on the Mind-Body-Gut connection and how it impacts the gut microbiome, obesity, and chronic disease. This work acknowledges the growing need for an evidence-based, whole-person approach to medicine, especially for patients battling chronic inflammatory conditions like obesity.
Dr. Arun's philosophy is clear: healing is more than treating symptoms—it's about addressing the root cause and empowering patients with holistic care that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit.
Whether he's in the operating theatre, teaching yoga, or mentoring the next generation of leaders, Dr. Arun is committed to creating a healthier, more empowered world.
