An Interventional Cardiologist, A/Prof David Eccleston’s expertise and dedication to optimising patient outcomes has underpinned decades of caring for patients within clinical work and also his recent appointment as the Australian Clinical Research Services Director with Advara HeartCare Research.

David trained in Sydney and at Royal Perth Hospital before completing a two-year Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and basic research in vascular biology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA. After working as an interventional cardiologist and Director of the Coronary Care Unit at Fremantle Hospital, David took up appointments as an Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Melbourne and Western Hospitals in 1997. He subsequently attained a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology and became a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne where he plays an active role in the development of future generations of physicians.

David’s interests include complex coronary angioplasty, intravascular ultrasound and research in the areas of acute coronary syndromes and angioplasty outcomes databases.
