Associate Professor Segal is a UK trained Gastroenterologist who has worked in some of the most prestigious centres in the world, including the only specialised bowel hospital, St Marks Hospital in the UK where he achieved his PhD. He has published over 140 peer reviewed articles and regularly is invited both nationally and internationally to speak. He believes the key to therapeutic relationships is to really listen to a patient and take care of their holistic needs.
He holds public appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where he specialises in inflammatory bowel disease and Gastrointestinal complications arising from those with cancer.
He is an expert in inflammatory bowel disease but is competent in all aspects of gastroenterology including hepatology, endoscopy and functional bowel disease. He is regularly invited to talk at both international and national conferences and is currently an Associate Editor at a major Gastrointestinal journal Frontline Gastroenterology.
A/Prof Segal has short waiting lists and will do his best to see you in a timely fashion, culminating in a rapid diagnosis and management plan. He believes in joint decision making, so all management plans and options will be explored to guarantee treatment plans are correct for each individual patient.
