Dr Schneider has an active interest in advanced interventional endoscopy, including the management of pre-cancerous polyps, and pancreatobiliary endoscopy. He likewise has expertise in the diagnosis and management of luminal gastroenterological conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac and reflux, as well as the management of liver diseases and irritable bowel syndrome.
Having initially studied law prior to medicine, Dr Schneider brings a broad-minded but patient-centred approach to his practice. He undertook specialist advanced training in gastroenterology followed by 3 years of advanced endoscopy fellowships: a luminal endoscopy fellowship at the Alfred Hospital; an interventional endoscopy fellowship at RMH; and a year at the world-renowned University College London Hospital pancreatobiliary department. This year abroad focused on advanced pancreatobiliary procedures with EUS and ERCP, including cholangioscopy and interventional EUS. His fellowships have given him expertise in managing a wide range of complex luminal gastroenterological and pancreatobiliary conditions.
Dr Schneider has published research in international journals, and presented at international conferences. He is a foundation member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia's Sustainability Network, and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Climate Change and Health Working Group, helping to address and reduce healthcare's, and particularly endoscopy's, impact on the environment.
