In 1990, while still in Medical School, Guy spent time as a resident in Vanuatu working in paediatrics.
IHe graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with first class honours in 1992 and was confirmed as a practising medical practitioner by the AHPRA. For the next three years, Guy worked as a medical practitioner in Gippsland and North Eastern Victoria and Melbourne. During this time, he began training as a General Practitioner.
IDiscovering a love of obstetrics, he studied for and, in 1994, was awarded a Diploma from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1995, he started a four-year training programme as a Specialist Obstetric and Gynaecology Registrar at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
IAn opportunity to become a Senior Registrar at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, in the UK, gave Guy the further opportunity to study for an advanced Diploma in Gynae Endoscopy at the prestigious University D Ávernge in France. In 2001, Guy graduated as a Fellow of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and returned to Melbourne where he was engaged as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. That same year, Dr Guy Skinner opened his private practice.
IHis reputation and skill with complex births and high-risk pregnancies mean Guy is often asked for his opinion around specialist care and surgery. He is often involved in helping other specialist gynecologists and obstetricians make appropriate and considered decisions.
