Dr Michael Smits is a Melbourne-based vascular surgeon dedicated to providing thoughtful, patient-centred care. He understands that vascular conditions can be complex and often stressful, and aims to create a calm, supportive environment where patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their treatment decisions.
Michael completed his surgical training at Austin Health, Northern Health, Wellington Hospital, St Vincent's Hospitals in Sydney and Melbourne, and Westmead Hospital. This broad training has given him extensive experience across the full range of vascular procedures.
He offers comprehensive care for all vascular conditions, from minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins to complex aortic and peripheral vascular interventions. His approach is grounded in clear communication, accessibility, and tailoring treatment plans to each individual patient.
Outside of medicine, Michael is a devoted family man and enjoys spending time with his two young children.
