Dr. Nicholas Smith is a colorectal and general surgeon specializing in the management of colon cancer, rectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Smith obtained his medical degree from the University of Sydney, after which he pursued surgical training through Liverpool and St. George Hospitals in Sydney. He was awarded Fellowship as a General Surgeon by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019. He subsequently undertook post-graduate training in General Surgery (Wollongong Hospital) as well as research through the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He then went onto to complete a clinical fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in the United States, additionally completing a research/clinical fellowship in hereditary colorectal cancer, and staying on to practice for an additional 3 years.

Upon returning to Australia, Dr. Smith has set up practice through Epworth HealthCare and has a public appointment at the Werribee Mercy Hospital. His clinical and research interests are in complex colorectal cancer management, inflammatory bowel disease, and early/young onset/hereditary cancer syndromes.
