Areas of Interest
Dr Ruchith (Ruch) Dissanayake is a Melbourne-based orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on foot and ankle conditions. He is interested in helping people regain comfort and function, whether they are recovering from an injury, managing arthritis, or dealing with long-standing foot or ankle problems.
Ruch's interest and dedication in managing complex foot and ankle trauma was shaped by his experience at major trauma centres both locally and internationally and led him to complete a Master of Traumatology at the University of Newcastle. He further developed his foot and ankle expertise through a renowned Fellowship at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada working with world leaders in Achilles tendon pathology, ankle arthroplasty and bone defect management.
Ruch has particular interests in sports-related injuries, fracture treatment and reconstruction in the setting of deformity and arthritis. He is trained in contemporary techniques in foot and ankle surgery including arthroscopic surgery, ankle replacements and minimally invasive surgery for toe deformities.
He holds a public appointment at Monash Health, where he is helping to establish a new Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic unit to better serve Melbourne's South East Corridor.
