A/Prof John Cunningham is an internationally recognised and respected orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in all spinal disorders. He is a recognised leader in his field, and works to bring the latest surgical technologies and techniques to his practice, with surgical navigation systems, sagittal balance and biomaterials three current areas of interest. His practice encompasses minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as traditional open surgery, depending on what the patient needs. He believes strongly in discussing all the surgical options with patients in a frank and open manner. Improving patient outcomes is at the heart of John's practice.

Using his experience in the field of epidemiology, he helped establish the Australian Spine Registry. All of his operated patients are enrolled in the registry, contributing directly to the wealth of knowledge regarding spine surgery.
