Mr Ruban Ambikaipalan is a Melbourne Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in Hip, Knee and Trauma Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association after completing his Orthopaedic Training in 2017. He has completed subspecialty Training at prestigious Centres in the U.K. and Europe. Ruban was the Pelvic and Trauma Fellow at the Royal London Hospital and subsequently he was the Clinical Fellow in Hip and Knee Surgery on the Joint Reconstruction Unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, London. Ruban was also awarded the European Traumatology and Orthopaedic Research Trust (E.F.O.R.T) Foundation Fellowship which allowed him to work in world renowned centres in Germany, Italy and France. He currently works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and at Epworth Hospitals in Richmond, Freemasons East Melbourne and Eastern Box Hill. His main interests are in Primary and Revision joint replacement Surgery of the Hip and Knee as well as well as Pelvic Surgery and Trauma / Fracture management. He holds Academic appointments at both Melbourne and Monash University teaching Medical Students as well as supervising Orthopaedic Registrars undertaking specialist Training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
