About
Dr McCoy completed his studies in Medicine in 1991 and then an Anaesthesia Fellowship in Ireland. He continued with a Specialist Fellowship at Flinder's University Medical Centre in South Australia and then took a consultant specialist/senior lecturer role at University of Liverpool (UK) at the Walton Centre for neurosurgery before relocating to Geelong in 2004. He has a special interest in complex acute pain, chronic non cancer pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and spinal pain. Dr McCoy teaches neuromodulation for the malmanagement of pain and is a foundation supervisor of training for the procedures endorsement program (PEP) at the Faulty of Pain Medicine. He is an examiner with the Faculty of Pain Medicine ANZCA, a committee member of the Training Unit Accreditation Committee and has been on the Court of Examiners for over 10 years. He is the immediate past chair of the Professional Affairs Committee FPM ANZCA. Dr McCoy is an independent medical examiner for WorkSafe (Victoria) and TAC (Victoria). He has also consulted for AHPRA, litigations lawyers and personal injury lawyers. Dr McCoy hold an Honorary Senior Lecturer position with Deakin University Medical School.
