Our Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) plays an important role in ensuring we partner with our patients, consumers and the community in the planning, delivery and improvement of our services.

The CAC works to provide a voice for the community and consumers in strategic decision making and governance at Epworth HealthCare.

The CAC meets six times per year and its membership includes representatives from Epworth's Board and executive team and Consumer Advisors who act in an advisory capacity.

Rev. Sue Withers

An ordained minister of the Uniting Church of Australia, Rev. Sue Withers is a member of the Epworth Board and Patient Care Committee. Sue joined the Consumer Advisory Committee in 2021.

“As a Board Member I am interested to learn more about the consumer’s experience of the care offered at Epworth Hospital. I find it exciting that we are part of a hospital that values and listens to the consumer voice, so we can learn and continue to offer the absolute best possible care for all persons associated with Epworth.”


Kieu joined Epworth HealthCare as a Consumer Advisor and a member of the Consumer Advisory Committee in 2017. Kieu was inspired to become a Consumer Advisor as she “wanted to support and contribute to the healthcare industry, especially mental health, while working”.

Being a member of the Consumer Advisory Committee, Kieu brings a consumer voice, with experience as a carer, “allowing diversity of thought and “fresh eyes” to support Epworth’s direction and activities.” Kieu’s highlight of her time in the role includes “Getting involved with Epworth’s 2025 strategy development through co-design.”


Helen joined Epworth as a Consumer Advisor and member of the Consumer Advisory Committee in 2020. Her motivation for joining the committee comes from having “had numerous interactions with Epworth HealthCare over the years. I was looking for a way to give back and becoming a Consumer Advisor was a great opportunity for me to blend my professional experience in communications and marketing with my desire to ensure the consumer experience at Epworth is as good as it can possibly be.”

When asked about her experience on the committee, Helen notes “the Epworth Team are absolutely fantastic to work with, very warm, welcoming, and engaging. I feel truly valued!”
